1. What is the MCRI?
Metal Cladding & Roofing Institute (MCRI) was established to become the recognised body for specialists in the metal-based roofing and cladding industry; to acknowledge, support and promote the technical expertise of individuals in the industry; to encourage the development of individuals skills and knowledge through the active involvement of recognised CPD; and to raise the profile of the Institute and its members.
2. Is the MCRI part of the MCRMA?
The Metal Cladding and Roofing Institute (MCRI) is part of the Metal Cladding and Roofing Manufacturers Association (MCRMA) and falls under the MCRMA membership
constitution and governance structure
3. What benefits can I expect as a member of the MCRI?
A full list of membership benefits is included in the membership information pack, these include professional recognition of an individual’s specialist knowledge and experience, regular industry news updates, a profile on the MCRI website, and an invite to an online annual members meeting.
4. How is the MCRI structured for different membership levels?
The MCRI is structured into four different levels of membership:
- Affiliate
- Associate
- Member
- Fellow
5. If I join the MCRI will it provide me with membership of the MCRMA?
No. The MCRI is a stand-alone section within the structure of the MCRMA but being a member of the MCRI does not provide membership of the MCRMA.
6. Am I right in thinking that membership of the MCRI is an individual membership and not a corporate or company membership?
Yes, that is correct. The MCRI is structured to recognise and accommodate the needs of individual members. Companies may be members of the MCRMA and individuals within that company may be individual members of the MCRI. Please note that MCRMA and MCRI members receive different and focused benefits.
7. Would I need to complete and submit an annual CPD record?
Yes, members of the MCRI must undertake at least 24 hours of recognised CPD training per annum. Membership requires you to submit a record of CPD hours each year to
support your annual renewal.
8. What is the annual membership fee?
The annual fee will depend on the level of membership and is set out in the membership information pack. Fees may be reviewed on an annual basis but will be kept in line with industry practice.
9. When does annual membership start and when are fees invoiced?
Annual membership starts on the 1 st September each year and invoices will be issued at that time. Individuals who start part way through the first year of membership will receive a proportional reduction in fees for that year.
10. Will membership of the MCRI allow me to use Post nominals?
Post nominals can be used as follows:
- Associate – AMCRI
- Member – MMCRI
- Fellow- FMCRI
Please note that Affiliates are not awarded post nominals.
11. What is the process for joining the MCRI?
Individuals wishing to join the MCRI should complete an application form which must be supported by two proposers and be accompanied by supporting information. Applications will be vetted by the management committee and notification of acceptance will be provided.
12. If I’m a current or recent past member of another recognised industry body does this offer me a route into membership of the MCRI?
Current or recent past members of a recognised industry body may provide a more direct route into membership of the MCRI. Evidence of membership of other industry bodies will be required.
13. If I don’t not have NVQs but I do have an equivalent educational qualification is this recognised for membership of the MCRI?
Yes, the MCRI does recognise other equivalent educational qualifications other than NVQs. Please see the table contained in the membership information pack.
14. Why was the MCRI formed?
The MCRI was formed as a result of conversations with highly skilled individuals from across the industry who highlighted that an appropriate body did not exist which recognised their knowledge and expertise associated with the metal-based roofing and cladding industry.
15. Will membership of the MCRI provide me with a partial access route to obtain a CSCS card?
Membership of the MCRI does offer individuals with recognition of the knowledge and experience and it can be used as a stepping stone towards a range of CSCS cards along with proof of a Health and Safety qualification.
16. I am already a member but I want to upgrade to the next level, how do I do this?
If you would like to upgrade to the next level, you will need to complete the appropriate sections on the application, along with necessary supporting documents, and submit to the MCRI for management committee review and approval.
