Carlton J Jones

My career within the construction side of the steel industry spans more than 50 years.

With a background in engineering, I previously worked for British Steel, Corus and Tata initially within a R&D environment dealing with structural testing and building physics associated with construction products and systems for the building envelope and the light steel framing market. Subsequently I was involved in the technical and commercial side of the business focusing on product and system development for roofing and cladding and associated components. During this time, I also became  involved in British and European standards and the technical marketing of materials, products and systems, which lead to a close working relationship with the leading manufacturers within the sector. For a period I managed a roofing and cladding refurbishment business and Chaired the Building Task Group within the European Coil Coaters Association (ECCA).

Since 2011 I’ve been involvement in the construction sector as Director of the Metal Cladding and Roofing Manufacturers Association (MCRMA) and for a period of time as Director of the Metal Gutter Manufacturers Association (MGMA). I am a current Director and Fellow of the IoR and I also run CJJ Construction Services providing technical consultancy support to manufacturers within the roofing and cladding sector.
